Using SLAMM / overwash
April 08, 2014, 05:12:43 AM

I used the overwash model with different percentages of marsh loss (0%, 50%, 75% and 100%) to understand how this process is modelled.

Although I understand that the criteria for the overwash is the barrier island to be less than 500m, I cannot understand which cells are subjected to overwash. For my case for example 75% of the marsh should be lost. Is this random or based on some criteria?

Thank you in advance
Using SLAMM / calculate fetch
October 23, 2013, 10:32:35 AM

Could you please help me understand how SLAMM calculates the fetch in each cell??
Is it assumed that fetch is the distance from one point of the river to another in the direction of the cell?
Is it calculated in low tide or in high tide?

Thank you
Using SLAMM / command line SLAMM
July 25, 2013, 09:08:52 AM

I am trying to run SLAMM from the command.

I firstly had a manual simulation and at the end I saved it as txt.  So, the txt file contains all the parameters i need.

I load this from the command window and although the simulation runs, the results are different from the manual one. Could  you please help me on that?

Thank you
Using SLAMM / uncertainty model
May 10, 2012, 04:18:46 AM

I attend yesterday the web conference about the new release on slamm (uncertainty model). Firstly I would like to congratulate you for it. It was very good!
I would like to ask you if it is available to download it yet, and also I was wondering what are the differences between the last one and this new one? You just add
the uncertainty model or there are more changes?

Also, I found on the internet the SLAMM-View 2. This is just a website that includes the results of the SLAMM reports or something else?

Thank you in advance,
Using SLAMM / gis output
March 02, 2012, 08:43:42 AM
I run the SLAMM giving it the command to create GIS output but when I open them in gis, a one colour raster appears. Is something that I have to change in SLAMM or is just an error?

Thank you
I am trying to include the Distance to channel factor in my model and the manual does not have many details on that. I have the excell file where I can test the values Dmin and DistEffect but I cant understand what values are appropriate for my site. Is there a specific assumption underneath or it is empirical?
For example, is there an assumption that there is no effect after 500m? Also, after the distance beyond which proximity to the channel has no additional effect, the min effect after the 500m is 0 (no effect at all) or sth else??

Also, I have different results between the 0 time and the current time. I am using LIDAR data so I dont use the Preprocessor. Is it sth wrong or SLAMM depicts the input data on the 0 time and at the current time updates the elevation taking into account sth, for example the accretion or the subsidence??

Thank you
Using SLAMM / wetland elevation categories
February 02, 2012, 06:53:47 AM

I am a PhD student at UCL, London and I will use the SLAMM model to model the impacts of climate change on coastal and estuarine habitats. My case study is in UK, so I have to change the elevations of wetlands. I saw that I can edit them at the elevation input and analysis table before run the model. But I was wondering if I can change the code to do that. So, I search the code and saw that the wetland elevation ranges (min and max) are only defined as numbers in the file and could not find any other equation or parameters defining them. Is that correct? The numbers that are used there as min and max elevation correspond in a particular area or they are standards for USA?

Also, I found the following equations in the code:
MHHW=GTideRange/2  and MLLW=MTL-GTideRange/2. These equations are SLAMM's assumptions or they correspond to the real data, because in my case study does not correspond.

Thank you very much,
