Hello all,
I have another good novice question, are there "default" site parameters one can use for setting up a run? I was able to get some info from the NOAA gage data but it is unclear to me how the other site parameters are derived. Short of finding the info in a lit review are there numbers that work out as a "good guess" for the parameter entry?
Thank you,
Rich
I recommend looking through the reports found here for some examples of how we found parameters for these variables when applying the model: http://www.warrenpinnacle.com/prof/SLAMM/SLAMM_Projects.html
Other than that, here's a very quick breakdown:
NWI Photo Date (YYYY) -- Year of wetland imagery
DEM Date (YYYY) -- Year of elevation data
Direction Offshore [n,s,e,w] -- Professional judgment, has limited impact but helps a cell understand its context by evaluating how near water is in the offshore direction
Historic Trend (mm/yr) -- NOAA long term SLR gauges
MTL-NAVD88 (m) -- NOAA Gages or NOAA VDATUM
GT Great Diurnal Tide Range (m) -- NOAA Gauges or other data set
Salt Elev. (m above MTL) -- one-in-thirty day inundation from observed gauge data from NOAA gages, or try 1.3 to 1.5 multiplied by half of the GT as a rough estimate.
Marsh Erosion (horz. m /yr) -- shoreline change data, other literature source, or default
Swamp Erosion (horz. m /yr) -- shoreline change data, other literature source, or default
T.Flat Erosion (horz. m /yr) -- shoreline change data, other literature source, or default
Reg.-Flood Marsh Accr (mm/yr) -- literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study
Irreg.-Flood Marsh Accr (mm/yr) -- literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study
Tidal-Fresh Marsh Accr (mm/yr) -- literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study
Inland-Fresh Marsh Accr (mm/yr) -- literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study or default
Mangrove Accr (mm/yr) -- literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study or default
Tidal Swamp Accr (mm/yr) -- often default or literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study
Swamp Accretion (mm/yr) -- often default or literature source, local or regional long-term accretion study
Beach Sed. Rate (mm/yr) -- data tends to be sparse
Freq. Overwash (years) -- can look at historical hurricane records and estimate frequency of category 3 or beyond storm. Or set to zero for overwash to be off (recommended for cell sizes below 30 m)
Use Elev Pre-processor [True,False] -- False if using LiDAR or high vertical resolution elevation data (recommended)
